Upon invitation to reflect on the notion of transparency, that led me into the forest to envelop the contour of a large stone with fragments of mirror. The large stone, tucked away deep in the woods, became a reflective surface for its surroundings.
Wonderful and simple sculpture by Michel de Broin, although potentially quite lethal to the surrounding wildlife.

and I am just getting warmed up…
Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water, played in an ancient Japanese style by Ooedo No Hikeshi.
Potentially an epic soundtrack to a Kurosawa-inspired movie…

Awesome use of illustrator and vectors in the Additional Media set by Mark Payne (mimobase).
The video linked to above is a really nice 720p timelapse of San Francisco harbour over a 24hr period.
From the early morning cloud (going from east to west which is apparently very rare), through a clear sunny day and ending at night after a very scenic sunset.

Really nicely compiled evolution of nintendo characters from their early pixely beginnings to their textured, three-dimensional current selves.

Some really nice, colourful and vibrant 3d graphics, by Russian artist iuneWind.
The other work on this beautifully designed site is also definitely worth checking out.
Photographer James Wojcik combines a deck of playing cards, some wire, pins and intense light & shadow to create a photographic alphabet.
Clouds made from Lego, which are actually available to buy, by Erik Maldre. Seems to me that it is really the photography which would be worth selling, but it is still a neat idea.
Really great use of vector graphics and deco styles by Italian designer; Manuel Dall’olio.
This is *apparently* a visualisation of the total amount of volume of water on the planet, bet you thought it would be more, right?
The image comes from a hockey forum(?!), which unsurprisingly, gives no real mention of who actually made the image or where it comes from. However they do debate the validity of the image and also show another image of the volume of the atmosphere to scale.
Some brilliant graphical compositions by Brazilian illustrator Guilherme Marconi. Also a very nicely presented website, something not all too common among graphic designers.
Mildly disturbing sketches and illustrations by James Jean, his recess set of illustrations are by far the most interesting. He also keeps a sketchblog of his work detailing the path leading to the conclusion.
Hijack Your Life, a varied and inspirational collection of design and illustration by Kallee Mattsson.
