A guy who creates pictures on the road by spitting water out of his mouth…sorta reminds me of something Neil Buchanan would do on Art Attack in the early 90’s (except without the bright clothing obviously)
Lots of cars, and lots of ice…really not a good mixture.

This is a pretty cool take on the waterfall…it basically uses similar technology to a printer to produce amazing falling water patterns.

I don’t know…but if I had just parked my car in this manner, I am not sure I would be happy to leave it and do my shopping.
But I guess that’s just me.

All this talk of iPhones has got me all pie-eyed for the hopes and dreams I thought might be fulfilled by the O2 XDA Mini when I bought it last year.
So I thought I would see what 11 months of Windows Mobile evolution has brought. After a little hunting around the HTC Wizard enthusiast forums, it became clear that there has been quite a bit of change in the Rom world, most notably the emergence of extended roms. Extended roms are home-brew collections of all the latest bits of rom from the various carriers of the wizard around the world.
The most popular, and commonly regarded as the best is the Molski extended rom, which puts together the latest windows mobile version (or AKU as they like to call it) with the latest rom for the phone, radio, ipl etc…
This looks like fun, I thought…so I downloaded Molski 3.0.0.0 [download here for the xda], running AKU 3.2 (I was using AKU 1.0 before). After making sure my Xda Mini s was of the G3 (earlier) type, and reading some fairly scary warnings about how if I got the wrong rom it would ‘brick’ my phone, I downloaded and installed quite painlessly once again.
After a few hours of use, I am very impressed…the new dark theme is much more sophisticated than the default. It also seems to run a little faster (probably due to all the little tweaks which come in the extended rom). The WiFi seems a lot more stable, it found my home connection and after a little password fiddling, connected with no problems.
Still…an iPhone it ain’t!
This is a gallery for the stargazers out there, some really clever and interesting images of the sky, stars and planets shot by Laurent Lavender.

This is certainly one of the more entertaining stories I have heard this week.
Apparently those crazy Swedish guys from the pirate bay (one of the more famous and proactive torrent sites) have had it with Sweden and it’s copyright laws. They want their own nation, and are asking for donations to do it.
Top of their list of nations to purchase is the Principality of Sealand, just off the coast of Britain, for a meagre £65m.
They have even setup a forum to discuss how best to run the new country…why does this remind me of an episode of family guy?
Ever wonder what the Simpsons would be like if they were a manga animation…pretty evil by the looks of things. This image is by space “nina” coyote who does plenty of manga/groening style fanart.
On the back of her work and the buzz created by this image, she has been offered a job at Bongo Comics (Matt Groening’s comic company) working on guess what…a manga-style simpsons comic.

So apple finally released the product which everyone thought they would…and I couldn’t be happier!
The iPhone supports GSM, WiFi and does the job of a phone, iPod, video player, camera, web browser, organiser, map book <strike>and anything else anyone makes a widget for</strike>. Oh yeah, and it kinda looks pretty sweet too!
The best news, in my opinion, is that finally there will be a mobile device on the market with an interface which isn’t designed by monkeys…
The bad news is that in merry ol’england we will have to wait 11 months for one of these, then another month for the second shipment after the first get bought for resale on ebay. Here’s to this time next year!
In the US they are tied to only go with cingular, meaning you can only have one of these babies if you sign a new two year contract with this mobile providor. Who will they tie with in the rest of the world? Will they tie exclusivly in the rest of the world? and Who will be the first person to hack unlock it for another network?
This phone (believing the un-adulterated hype that follows it) will be the device which everyone has to have in 2008, and if we have to change networks, then we will complain bitterly…then change networks.
But what happens if (for example) apple were to negotiate an exclusive deal with three in the UK not only would it become the icon for the third generation phones but it would probably serve to reinvigorate a market which has gone from bad to worse since it was launched.
Question is, would people want it even if the phone service was expensive and not very good?
Anyway enough of my mind-wanderings…

Sweet! But what of the Cisco iPhone?
Update 10/1/07 As the details roll out, it turns out there will be no third party applications on the iPhone. And it isnt 3G compatible (phew!)…
In 1955, French director, Henri-Georges Clouzot had the most amazing idea. He would film Pablo Picasso as he painted 20 artworks, ranging from quick sketches to widescreen color oil paintings.
This is the Mystery of Picasso, proclaimed a French National Treasure in 1984.
Fascinating Stuff!

Ok, you do need to be a bit of circuitry nerd to make this (as well as a normal nerd for actually wanting it). The Make Blog has instructions for making these spiffy little pong watches.
