A Parisian Panorama

A panoramic view of Paris by night

A quite stunning 360 panoramic view of Paris taken at night…

A Day For Feasting

The Flag of Scotland, lovingly recreated by two large airliners

A nice image from Chris, thought it deserved a post…even though I am only tenuously related to Scotland by blood. Still happy St Andrew’s day, not to be confused with St Andrew the Scot’s day who seems to have little, if anything, to do with Scotland.

Tunnel of Death

Ok, perhaps a little melodramatic, but the video above is footage taken in what has to be the most lethal tunnel in the world.

This tunnel in Russia is the longest in-city tunnel of Europe. There is a river running over it, and water leaks at some points. When the temperature reaches -38 degrees, like it did this winter, the road freezes and the result is the attached video…

Looking through the comments on youtube and digg it would seem that the tunnel is on also on quite an incline, causing over steer at the least opportunity. Also apparently all Russians drive with a certain amount of abandon, but that is just hearsay.

A Busy Day At The Airport

photographic composition of lots of planes taking off

This heavily photoshopped image was found at the Seoul City Museum…no comment on who actually made it yet.

When Cloning Goes Wrong

when cloning goes wrong - the crocoduck

Some images from a recent worth1000 photoshopping contest (yeah, I bet you thought there was something off with the image above), very entertaining, most are pretty well done too.

Casual Subversion

I am not a terrorist (in arabic) t-shirt

After reading about blogger Raed Jarrar’s experience at JFK (he was forced to take off a shirt with Arabic writing on it or miss his flight; new BBC article), I finally stopped being depressed about the war on terror and began being proactively pissed off. I made this shirt, which says “I am not a terrorist” in Arabic. I plan to wear it every time I go to the airport from now on.

mmm…gotta love the t-shirt that tells a story too…

Desktops with a Vista

Windows Vista Wallpaper Pack by Brajeshwar

This is a collection of 92 desktop wallpaper images from Windows Vista. They have really gone to town on them by the looks of things.

You can also download them all as a pack here.

Blingin!

a chromed BMW M3 from Quebec

There should be more cars which come in chrome…of course it wouldn’t be too pleasant for anyone else on the road, what with the sun or headlight reflections.

Would be a nightmare to keep clean too…the fingerprints, just imagine the fingerprints! Still cool tho…

Not Following Through

A bunch of Mancunians attempting the classic tube gate fare dodgers trick, except with cars…and quite unsuccessfully. What I don’t quite understand is why they don’t just hop the curb and go round…from the camera angle it looks like there is plenty of room.

Thanks go to Nick for this one…

When Superheros Get Old

l'hospice by Gilles Barbier

Getting old is pretty freaky…especially when you are a Superhero it would seem.

Chicken From Space

To celebrate KFC’s recent logo redesign, they decided to make one which could be seen on Google Earth (or from space as they put it).

The logo consists of 65,000 one-foot by one-foot painted tile pieces that were assembled like a giant jigsaw puzzle: 6,000 red, 14,000 white, 12,000 eggshell, 5,000 beige and 28,000 black.

Flags ‘For The New Millennium’

This is a great flash movie which zips through some of the worlds flags and brings up the inevitable comments from the clients on their design…and what they would look like if they were implemented.

The Writing on The Wall

Pixelnotes by Duncan Wilson

A wallpaper consisting of four layers of varying grey tones on a bright primary backing. Each layer is perforated in a grid format and backed with a tacky adhesive similar to ‘post-it’ notes.

Cool…although it doesn’t show the huge pile of discarded post-it notes which this design would create.

Tricked Out Trucks

‘Dekotora’ (Decorated Trucks) of Japan, kinda make the British equivalent look a little lame…

Discerning Choices

the choice, at likebetter.com
the hypothesis, at likebetter.com

This site presents you with a choice of two images, in a simalar way to this one I mentioned a few days ago. What makes it different is that it uses the images to form a hypothesis about what you are like.

I played with it for a little while and I would say that it isn’t bad, probably about 60% accuracy, although it’s first two suggestions were way off. I guess it all depends on why you choose each image over another, I was choosing images because I liked the colour and composition, rather than the content…it suggested I was a 30-something girl (!)

and just in-case you are interested, I think my desk is pretty tidy at the moment…
