Classic french drum&bass, with a hint of hiphop too. Great energy music which varies from some pretty quick heavy beats to some chilled breakbeat, its a good mixture.

Another album i got because it had a cool sounding name. This one is in Nubian-Sudanese apparently, this is close to Egyptian as you may have guessed by the title. Essentially they are blues lyrics but put across in a very happy and uplifting way. I guess it helps when you dont understand them.
My personal favorite track on this album is Qidrechinna (trans: I am destined to love), which is one of the very few tracks i could just leave on repeat and not get sick of.

This is probably one of my favorite albums, the band is French but the lyrics are Lebanese is from Beirut, Lebanon and the lyrics are Lebanese not suprisingly, and are truly beautiful.
The album has overtones of Massive Attack, with a hint of Portishead all put together in a delightfully non-western way. The second to last track 'Dub4Me' is true crusin' music.
The artist website is here but be warned, it does have background music so pause your mp3 before going to this one. Although this is good if you want a sample of what I am (trying) to describe.
Fill out the questionnaire, this entertaining page will tell you what operating system you resemble.
I am not reading into its accuracy too much, it said I was most like Windows98 - a little flaky at the edges, but alot of people rely on me day to day…
found an interesting entry on the reg about a music exec. giving a speech in Manchester, essentially saying he thought suing people for listening to music was a great idea and is looking forward to prosecuting every mp3 owner in the near future.
I seem to remember at the last count it was over 60% of broadband users in the uk who at one time or another (admitted to) downloaded an mp3 from the internet. Thats alotta lawsuits!

found a neat collection of Apple's advertisements through the years.
Fascinating to as an illustration of how the ad media has changed over the years, and also what they thought up to encourage people buy their macs.

Another wonderful example of how technology allows lots of people who dont know each other to communicate. Or at least allows their umbrellas to. The fun occors when someone has a hacked umbrella (as they inevitably will) which caused umbrellas around it to randomly open and close. Mwahahaha!
Digital Rights Management…what a crappy idea, lets restrict the places where the computing underclass can play their legally bought music. The people who have floated around computers and the internet for a while will know exactly where to find music which isnt restricted, or even programs to remove such restrictions. The music people punish their own customers for buying the music…one quite gripping pdf presentation is here, this one seems to be written for a presentation to microsoft. Another entertaining one is the Open Letter from the Computing Industry and finally, one (rather wordy) speech which will be read to the World Economic Forum tommorow. It talks about a utopian society where any creation in the world can be apreciated by anyone in the world.
I thought since i have joined the millions of bloggers around the world, it might be a good idea to have a look at some of the history…
OK, thats a lie…but i did find an interesting little quicktime called Blog History which goes through a brief history of the Blog. It highlites an important point, if we imagine the media industry as it stands to be a Server which the people connect to, to receive their information about the world. Then the rise in popularity of the blog is making everyone a Server, which creates a peer 2 peer media system.
cool…question is: is the internet allowing the human race to become united? or just allowing people to argue more…?
This shows the past 10 albums i have played in winamp. The one which is currently playing has a '>' icon
A triumph of php and winamp integration, at the moment the albums link to a google reference.
spent ages delving around the php cms scripts fixing misc irratances. Managed to create a (rather nasty) work around to cope with PHP safe-mode owner permissions. It works is all i can say, not pretty but it works.
Now comments work, no registration required…w00t!
The Idea:
A new album everyday (or so) and a brief description. I fear the description will be the hard part, how does one go about describing music without pigeon-holing it.
For the lucky few who have access, this could be quite an entertaining daily visit.
The Need:
- a little php to relay my winamp stats to the blog
- the gumption to actually do it, rather than just talk about it…
